Greetings from Magnolia House
Bed & Bath Lodging.
We hope you choose to stay with us on The Mountain at Magnolia House Bed & Bath Lodging, in Canton Texas. Magnolia House is owned and operated by Larry and Linda Simpson. We are a married couple of 26 years and folks that just want you to have a great time while you stay with us.
This page contains a lot of information for you, from fun things to do to the not so fun legal stuff! I think it is always important for everyone to have more info than they need than less so here goes!!!
First let me explain that we are a Bed & Bath Facility, not a Bed & Breakfast. Simply put, no meals are included in your lodging stay. There are some really good places to eat on The Mountain and we incourage you to give them a try.
If you choose to stay with us please print off a copy of this information for your use and needed information during your stay.
Our rooms are clean, fun and functional, not fancy. We strive to make each room comfy and cozy for your stay. The exterior of our building is rustic in keeping with The Mountain atmosphere of an old west town and the interior of each room is designed to replicate that as well. Each room has a private entrance, private bath and a coffee pot with supplies. For pictures of the rooms click on the room name above and you will find information and pics of that room. For more information on The Mountain go to www.CantonMountain.com
Rates for our rooms during First Monday Trade Days weekend are standard in our area at $50.00/person/night, plus taxes. Each room has a minimum and maximum number of guests and that info is found on the above room link pages. Some months are considered off season and rates are negotiable for those dates, so feel free to ask!
The Mountain is an area in downtown Canton that is provided for our guests pleasure and entertainment. There are gun fight reinactments, Quilt auctions, free live music entertainment and lots of fun shops, restaurants and lodging. Most guests enjoy themselves on The Mountain and return again and again.
Automobiles are restricted on The Mountain during Trade Days for pedestrian safety. Our guests will need to purchase a parking pass from Old Mill Marketplace when you enter the gate and park in their securety patroled East parking lot during their stay. I recommend that you purchase a weekend pass for $5.00 which will give you access to come and go throughout the weekend. The address for the parking lot is 542 Hwy 64 East, Canton, TX.
When you arrive give me, Linda, a call on my cell phone, (405) 249-3980 and we will arrange for a golf cart to pick you and your luggage up in the Old Mill Marketplace East Parking lot and transport you to your room/rooms. If for some reason that phone doesn't get through try my husband Larry's cell, (405) 249-1789 as a back-up. We provide Taxi service when you arrive with your luggage and when you leave with your luggage. The rest of the time The Mountain has a golfcart Taxi service avaialble to you that works for tips. The Taxi cell number is (214) 803-4293.
We do require a deposit for you reservation, either full credit card information or a check at the time of the reservation to hold the room. The deposit is the equivelent of one nights lodging reservation. We have a 14 day cancellation policy that simply means if you cancel your reservation less than 14 days prior to your reservation date you could have to pay for one nights reservation, plus taxes. I will do my utmost best to reserve that room to someone else for you but if I am unable to reserve to someone else before the reservation date you will be charged the one nights rate on you credit card or you deposit by check will be forfeited. (In 6 years of being in the Lodging business that has only happened 1 time!)
When you come to Canton Texas please keep in mind that Canton is in Van Zant County, Texas which is a dry county. No alcoholic beverages are sold in Canton. The nearest alcohol other than our local winery is approx 20 miles away. So, if your plans include any alcoholic beverages you will have to bring it with you and conceal it when in public. This is a fairly common practice here but openly drinking in public could cause you problems.
When you check-out just leave your room keys in the room, turn off the heat/air and coffee pot for safety and leave the door unlocked. Give us a call for transport down with your luggage and that's all there is to it.
If after you leave we find any damages to the room or furnishings or there are items missing we reserve the right to charge your credit card for replacement value. I hate to even mention this but we have had a number of items taken such as towels, pillows, comforters and decor.
You will be asked to sign at the bottom of this information when you arrive for acknowledgment of our policies. We also need your vehicle tag number, state and description for the parking lot in case of an emergency.
Again, we hope you choose to stay with us and look forward to speaking to you.
